The current situation and consumption trends of adult diapers in India

The population of India aged above 65 is 21 million. The usage rate of adult diapers in India is very low, accounting for only 0.6% of the total market share of sanitary products. However, the demand for pads is starting to increase.

Taking care of the elderly population is increasingly becoming a serious social challenge. Although the adult diaper market in India started relatively low, it has developed rapidly. The continuous construction of international chain hospitals has helped many diaper manufacturers promote their brands throughout India. Nowadays, 70% of adult diapers are sold through hospitals and their affiliated stores, which is popular among Indians. Most adult incontinence products include diapers, pads, and nursing pads. Indian senior centers have also started promoting adult diapers.

At present, there are no international companies producing adult diapers in India. However, international manufacturers such as Unicharm and P&G, as well as local manufacturers such as Emami Group, Rohit Group, Surfactants Limited, Mangal Textile Mills (India) Pvt. Ltd., Nobel Hygiene Ltd. and Wal Mart have shown great interest in this market.
